PUBLIC HEALTH

DISEASE CONTROL UNIT

The objective of the disease control program is to reduce morbidity and mortality from communicable and non-communicable diseases in Sarawak through efficient and effective disease surveillance systems and improving the investigation, diagnosis, treatment and control of those diseases.

The program covers:

  • Control of communicable diseases
  • Control of sexual transmitted diseases/ AIDS
    Communicable disease control section

    This section is led by a UD52 Public Health Specialist with UD44 Medical Officer, one U41 and one U42 Environmental Health Officers supported by a U32 and three U29 Assistant Environmental Health Officers.

The activities under this unit includes:

  • Monitoring of food and water borne diseases
  • Monitoring of notifiable diseases
  • Monitoring of emerging and re-emerging diseases
  • International health
  • Monitoring of vaccine preventable diseases.
