Environmental Health Unit

Introduction
The unit, also known as Unit Kesihatan Awam Hospital (UKAH), helps to coordinate effective health services to hospital staff and clients in the area of ​​prevention and control of infectious diseases in order to prevent disease outbreaks.

Objectives:

  1. Enforce the relevant Acts effectively.
  2. Participate actively in ensuring a safe workplace for all staff.
  3. Promoting good health among healthcare workers
  4. Promoting hospital as a non-smoking zone.
  5. Ensure the food outlets and kitchen at hospital comply with the required standards.
  6. Maintain a functional operation room

Scope of Services

  1. All activities pertaining to enforcement of Food Act 1983 & Regulations including Control of Tobacco Product Regulations with various amendments, Destruction of Disease-Bearing Insect Act 1975, Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease Act 1988 etc.
  2. All activities pertaining to ensure safe workplace.
  3. Operation of hospital operation room.
  4. Monitoring of performance of outsourced services in particular Facility and Engineering Services.
  5. Monitor water sampling process and results.
  6. Health promotional activities.
  7. Conducting health surveillance to staffs.
  8. Ensure enforcement of zero-tolerance policy in hospital.
