The\ndepartment also gives follow up treatment and effective psychoeducation and\ncounseling to patients and family members to promote insight in the patient\u2019s\nillness. &nbsp;This unit also offers community\nmental health services that is community psychiatry nursing, which helps to\nreduce the relapse rate among the patients and to support patients or family\nmembers who have to bear the burden of taking care of the patients and to\nreduce stigma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Objectives<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To provide\nefficient treatment and optimal psychiatric nursing care to the patients with\npsychiatric problems.<\/li><li>To provide\noptimal rehabilitation to the patients in order to help them to resume their function in the community.<\/li><li>To provide\nefficient follow-up treatment and psycho-education in the community in order to\nreduce the relapse rate and the burden of the caregiver.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Scope of services<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Inpatient\nService&nbsp; ( Ward 32 &amp; 32A )<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Provision of acute in-patient psychiatric care to the\npatients aged above 12 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Outpatient\nService ( Room 48 )<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To function as a secondary referral centre by providing\ndiagnostic, therapeutic and psycho-counseling services to new referrals from\nthe polyclinics, the surrounding district hospitals and general practitioners.\nTo provide regular follow-up treatment and counseling to the patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Psychosocial Rehabilitation (\nWard 32 )<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Provision of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program (in\ncollaboration with the Occupational Therapy Department and Community Mental\nHealth Centre Jalan Oya).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Community\nPsychiatric Nursing<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Provision of regular home visits\n(follow-up treatment and psycho-education) to the patients and their family in\norder to encourage strong family support for the patients and to reduce the\nrelapse risk.&nbsp; Community Psychiatric\nNursing (CPN) shall cover the suitable patients living within 25 km radius from\nSibu Hospital.&nbsp; Community Mental Health\nCentre (CMHC) at Jalan Oya Sibu (based on the Mental Health Act 2010 (MHA 2010)\nwas set up in 29 June 2012 and subsequently had been gazetted.<\/p>\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jabatan Psikiatrik Introduction The Department of Psychiatry provides effective psychiatric care and treatment toward psychiatric patients, and psychosocial rehabilitation to patients to enable them to be functional socially and economically in the local community.
