It serves as secondary referral centre in\nCentral Zone which covers five divisions namely Sibu, Kapit, Mukah, Sarikei and\nBetong. It receives referrals from 8 districts hospitals including surrounding\nclinics i.e. Dalat, Daro, Mukah, Kanowit, Kapit, Sarikei, Saratok and Betong.\nIt also occasionally receives referral from Bintulu Hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O&amp;G department comprises of four wards, namely:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Labour Room <\/li><li>Antenatal Ward <\/li><li>Postnatal Ward <\/li><li>Gynae Ward <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Scope of Services<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision of antenatal\ncare and delivery services for pregnant mothers, as well as diseases and\ncomplications that can develop during and after pregnancy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision of Elective and Emergency Caesarean Sections<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision of Initial Immunization<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision of Bereavement Counselling<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision of Fertility Services (Limited) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision of detail scan for high risk pregnant mothers\nthrough visiting feto-maternal specialist<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision of postnatal care after delivery<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision of in-patient and out-patient care for\ngynaecological patients including chemotherapy for gynae-oncology cases<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision of daycare O&amp;G procedures e.g. Blood sugar\nmonitoring, ultrasound scan, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision of O&amp;G services to\ndistrict hospitals (Hospital Mukah) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25cfProvision\nof training for undergraduate medical students and nursing students from\nvarious universities and colleges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Components<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Wards\n(Obsterics, Gynaecology)<\/li><li>Delivery\nSuite<\/li><li>Main\nOperating Theatre<\/li><li>Maternity\nOperating Theatre<\/li><li>Specialist\nOut-patient Clinics that include the following:<\/li><li>Provision of combined specialist care\nwith Medical Department to provide optimum medical care for pregnant mothers\nwith medical illnesses<\/li><li>Antenatal Specialist Clinic<\/li><li>Combine Obstetric-Medical Clinic<\/li><li>Gynaecology Clinic<\/li><li>Pre-pregnancy &amp; Family Planning\nClinic<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LABOUR\nROOM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The delivery suite (Ward 8) is\nlocated at the ground floor of the Inpatient Block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Objective<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To provide optimal, supportive and\nevidence based care for the mothers and babies during the intra-partum and\nimmediately postpartum periods, through provision of skilled and empathic\npersonnel, adequate and well maintained monitoring facilities, and prompt\nutilization of appropriate interventions.&nbsp;\nUltimately, to ensure a safe and fulfilling childbirth process for both\nmothers and babies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SCOPE OF SERVICES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Provision of facilities for monitoring of mothers and\nfetuses during labour and delivery.<\/li><li>Provision of trained midwife for supporting mothers through\nthe childbirth process.<\/li><li>Provision of 24 hours service by specialist, medical\nofficers and house officers on-call.<\/li><li>Provision of high dependency care for maternity cases\nrequiring critical monitoring.<\/li><li>Provision of a baby friendly, mother friendly and husband\nfriendly ward environment.<\/li><li>Provision of day care services.<\/li><li>Provision of initial newborn immunization soon after\ndelivery.<\/li><li>Provision for clinical teaching of UNIMAS medical students,\nstudent nurses from private &amp; government colleges, KPSL students and\nstudent Jururawat Masyarakat.<\/li><li>Provision of pain relief services for laboring mothers<\/li><li>Provision of husband\/partner-friendly and baby-friendly\nhospital initiative policy<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ANTENATAL WARD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LOCATION<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The antenatal ward (No. 7) is located on the\nground floor of the hospital premises, just opposite the delivery suite. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SCOPE OF SERVICES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To provide facilities for assessment and\ntreatment of antenatal problems, for nursing and education of prenatal mothers\nand mothers in early stage of labour.<\/li><li>To provide 24 hours service, with nursing\npersonnel working in 3 shifts.<\/li><li>To\nobserve and maintain the \u2018Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative\u2019 policy, and to re-\nenforce teaching on breastfeeding by health staff.<\/li><li>Provision on care, education and awareness on\nPre-pregnancy care \/ family planning \/ HIGH RISK identification, notification\nand follow-up services.&nbsp; <\/li><li>To emphasize on the training of House Officers,\nMedical Officers, Nursing staff and Student JM, KPSL students, student nurses\nboth from private &amp; KKM. Provision shall be made to cater for teaching of\nmedical students from various colleges and universities.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">POSTNATAL WARD<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>LOCATION<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The Postnatal Ward\n(No. 5) is located on the ground floor of M Block, east of the hospital, and is\ndirectly opposite the operation theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SCOPE OF SERVICES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Provision of facilities for diagnosis, treatment\nand nursing care of all postnatal mothers and their newborn babies.<\/li><li>Provision\nof initial newborn BCG immunization, also capturing missed BCG and Hepatitis B\nimmunization. To ensure that these two immunization are given within 24hrs.<\/li><li>Provision\nof 24 hours services by specialist, medical officers, house officers and\nnursing staff.<\/li><li>Provision of child safety services through\nreferrals as in SCAN TEAM workflow.<\/li><li>Provision of health education including\npre-pregnancy care \/ family planning.<\/li><li>Provision of advice, support and encouragement\nfor breastfeeding in line with the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Policy.<\/li><li>Provision for clinical teaching of medical\nstudents, KPSL students, Basic student nurses and student Jururawat Masyarakat.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GYNAE WARD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;LOCATION<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gynecology ward (No. 12)\nis located on the first floor of the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SCOPE OF SERVICES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ward provides facilities\nfor the assessment, treatment and nursing care of patients with<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Gynecological\nproblems<\/li><li>Pregnant\nmothers with gestational period less than 22 weeks.<\/li><li>Postnatal\nmothers admitted after 24 hours of childbirth (from outside deliveries) or <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>those readmitted after discharge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Postnatal\nmothers who deliver still-birth babies.<\/li><li>Rape\nor domestic violence cases<\/li><li>The\nward also provides beds for the postnatal mothers who are readmitted regardless\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>of any discipline and are willing to continue breastfeeding their\nhealthy babies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Service\nshall be provided 24 hours a day, with nursing personnel working on 3 shifts.<\/li><\/ul>\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Obstetrics and Gynaecology Introduction Obstetrics &amp; Gynaecology Department is an integral part of Sibu Hospital in managing maternity (pregnancy-related) and gynaecology (women diseases) cases.
