Initially it was located in the \u2018Sick Bay\u2019 of Lau King Howe\nHospital, Sibu. In September 1994, HDU was moved to the present Sibu Hospital\nwhere it was housed at Room 50. However, in 2004, due to the increasing demand\nof haemodialysis service, an empty ward has been renovated and upgraded to 20\nactive dialysis point. It is now located at Ward 24, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> floor of\nSibu Hospital. The new unit started its operation on 1<sup>st<\/sup> Jan 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Objective<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To provide comprehensive dialysis services i.e.\nacute or chronic in Sibu Hospital<\/li><li>&nbsp;&nbsp;To promote the prevention, detection\nand treatment of early stage kidney disease <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Scope\nof Services<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>General Nephrology.<\/li><li>Renal Replacement\nTherapy (RRT) in the form of Haemodialysis.<\/li><li>Health promotion,\nprevention and detection of kidney diseases.<\/li><li>Preparation and workup of patients for kidney\ntransplant.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Components\nof Service<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The range of\nservices provided in Sibu Hospital\nincludes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Outpatient \/\nAmbulatory Care Services<ul><li>Clinics:<ul><li>General\nNephrology \/ Chronic Kidney Disease.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Haemodialysis\n(HD).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Dialysis:<ul><li>Haemodialysis.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>General Nephrology\nprocedures (e.g. insertion and removal of HD catheters).<\/li><li>Inpatient Services:<ul><li>Care of patients with kidney diseases.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Insertion of HD and stab PD catheters.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Acute\nintermittent HD and PD.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Training and\nContinuing Education:<ul><li>Medical officers<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Allied health personnel<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Patients and family<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Rehabilitation\nand support for the well being of patients with kidney disease<\/li><\/ul>\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Haemodialysis Unit (HDU) Introduction Haemodialysis Unit, Sibu was set up in May, 1984 and was the first Haemodialysis Unit (HDU) in Sarawak.
