INTRODUCTION
The Dental Specialist Clinic in Hospital Miri is a referral centre for the Northern Zone of Sarawak, providing comprehensive specialist oral health care to all referral cases for outpatient as well as in-patient.
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department manages patients with oral and maxillofacial complexes including the maxillofacial skeleton and surrounding soft tissues. This specialty deals with the diagnosis, surgical, reconstructive and adjunctive (including rehabilitative) treatment of diseases, pathologies, injuries and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region.
Patients with facial and oral pain are also managed in this clinic and some of these patients are subsequently referred to the Acute Pain Services (APS) of Hospital Miri for further management.
