INTRODUCTION

The Assistant Medical Officer Supervisory Unit or Hospital Supervisory Unit (HSU) is a component under Hospital Management. This unit plays a role in resource management and clinical supervision to ensure that an excellent, efficient, and safe quality of service is provided to patients by the staff under its care, namely Assistant Medical Officers (AMO) and Healthcare Assistants (PPK).

OBJECTIVE

1. To ensure the services provided by Assistant Medical Officers and Healthcare Assistants are delivered professionally, efficiently, and with high quality at all times.

2. To manage human resources under our supervision efficiently and to optimise the number of staff in a unit or department according to service needs.

3. To plan and implement continuous and effective short-term and long-term training programs for staff under our care.

3.1. ‘Standard Operating Procedure’ (SOP issued by the Medical Assistants Board according to activity) and Ministry of Health Malaysia CPG (Clinical Practice Guidelines).

4. Pre-Hospital Treatment and Emergency Ambulance Services

4.1. Medical Emergency Call Centre (MECC)

5.1. Compliance with Act 180, Medical Assistants (Registration) Act 1977.
5.2. Adherence to hospital-level regulations during daily work activities.

5.4. Compliance with the approved list of duties for Assistant Medical Officers (AMO) and Healthcare Assistants (PPK) according to their respective fields of work.

6. Training Management

6.1. New staff orientation
6.2. Planning training for staff for relevant Post-Basic and Degree Programs.
6.3. Coordinating training attended by staff
6.4. Preparing reports on training attended by staff
6.5. Managing Training Logbooks and MyCPD.
6.6. Coordinating Level 1, 2, and 3 training for Healthcare Assistants (PPK).

7. Research

Research involving the services of Assistant Medical Officers and Healthcare Assistants.

8. On-Call Duties

8.1. Clinical Supervision in departments involving staff under our care.
8.2. Preparation of on-call duty rosters.
8.3. Monitoring of staff performing on-call duties.
8.4. Review of daily reports.
8.5. Preparation of reports for the Hospital Director.

9. Disaster Management

9.1. Member of the Main Disaster Committee.
9.2. Member of the Main Fire Safety Committee and Fire Safety Officer.

CLIENT’S CHARTER

1. Carry out Orientation Program to newly appointed members (PPP and PPK) and ensure they are moved in within 1 week before their placement.

2. Members are placed in the Department / Unit / Ward according to the available physical training and according to the needs and importance of the service.

3. Coordinate Level 1 and 2 Health Care Assistant Improvement Training.

4. Coordinate the application for renewal of yearly Certificate of Registration among Assistant Medical Officers.
