Clinical Research Centre
Introduction
The Clinical Research Centre, Hospital Sibu (CRC, HS) was established on 1 January 2011. It is part of the Ministry of Health (MOH) Clinical Research Centre (CRC) Network set up under the National Institute of Health CRC. The CRC network was set up in line with the vision of the Ministry of Health to make research one of the essential activities at MOH. It is an independent department of Hospital Sibu.
The CRC HS serves as a local coordination centre for research activities, clinical registry and training related to research. It is located at the front portion of Ward 31, at Level 3 of the main building of Hospital Sibu.
Objectives:
- To
coordinate the registration of research proposal to be conducted in the
hospital, or by hospital staff via online National Medical Research Registry
(NMRR)
- To review research proposals to be conducted at Hospital Sibu, either by own hospital staff or investigators from other institutions or advise investigators for research require MOH Medical Research Ethical Committee (MREC) review and approval
- To coordinate clinical trials and ensure investigators have necessary ethical approval and are compliance with good clinical practice (GCP) and relevant standards required by Joint Commission International
- To assist hospital staff in the conduct of research
- To manage and monitor clinical registries based at Hospital Sibu
- To collaborate with CRC MOH and the MOH network of CRC
- To conduct training in relation to research
Scope of Services
- Research governance &
coordinator for both investigator-initiated researches and industrial-sponsored
researches
- Promotion of industry-sponsored research in line with government policy
- Research services: research consultation, technical and methodological expertise
- Training activities: Introduction to Clinical Research, Good Clinical Practice Workshop, Research Methodology and Basic / Intermediate Biostatistics Workshop, Evidence-based Medicine Workshop, Questionnaire Validation Workshop
- -Organises Sibu Hospital Research Day to promote and share research findings among hospital staff, and co-organise Sarawak State Research Day by rotation
