INTRODUCTION

Sarikei Hospital has main operating theatre which consists of 3 operating rooms, a recovery bay, a reception area, 1 changing room each for male and female staff respectively and offices for the Anaesthetist, Nursing Sister and Assistant Medical Officer in charge.

The main operating theatre is located at level 2 of the diagnostic block of the hospital. It is adjacent to the Inpatient Pharmacy, Central Sterile Supply Unit, Daycare Unit and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The maternity operating theatre which consists of one operating room, a recovery bay, a reception area and 1 changing room each for male and female staff respectively. The maternity operating theatre is located at level 1 of the inpatient ward block. It is adjacent to the Labour Delivery Suite and the Special Care Nursery Ward.

The multidisciplinary day care unit consists of an endoscope room, a recovery bay, reception area, male and female changing room for the staff and patients, offices for the Nursing Sister and Medical Officer (MO) and 2 procedure rooms. The day care unit is located adjacent to main operating theatre complex and the Intensive Care Unit.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

• Pre-anaesthesia assessment
• Peri-anaesthesia services: Anaesthesia services in operation theatre
• Subspecialty anaesthesia (Obstetrics Anaesthesia and Analgesia and Paediatrics Anaesthesia)
• Pain Management Service ( Acute Pain Management and Chonic Pain Clinic)
• Endoscopic procedures and management of Day Care Ophthalmology patients in Day Care Unit
